However, Tony Dwyer, chief market strategist at Ladenburg Thalmann, called the rebound in stocks a ''relief rally.'' He believes many leading U.S. stocks are still overvalued.

''I would expect this rally to be short-lived,'' Dwyer said. ''We're seeing some deterioration from the best levels of the day.''

He said interest rates were still a concern.
