Excellent article, Stick -- but remember . . .

We don't want to read articles explaining why the stock isn't moving. We just want to blame management -- because that's the easy thing to do. Never mind that some of us shouldn't be investing in stocks like this in the first place (because they are too speculative). When we DO invest, we want the stock to go UP -- NOW!!! If it doesn't, it's certainly not because of market conditions. That seems to be the mentality here, at least . . .

[Just some random ravings . . . never mind.]

I don't like the direction of the article. They say in essence, that MM spreads ripped off the little guy so they could afford to take on more risk in meeting the big guys orders without moving the market.

I think the lower volume in smaller stocks is partially due to Mutual funds growing so large that holdings in micro and nano caps just can't impact the overall performance, and the current obsession with momentum investing.

A return back to value investing kicked off by the market being range bound for a lengthy period will force investors to start looking outside of the 'four horsemen' of the nasdaq. And truth be known, it's hard to wait the 2-5 years that it takes for a business plan to show results. Results drive smallcaps, press and perception drive the momentum plays.
