Adam, as you say, its a small snapshot, but one that's being repeated in a lot of places. I'm doing some work with a D.C. based international consulting firm and they have just signed a contract to replace all of their servers, desktops, and laptops with Dell systems. They are setting up the client website, will be knee-deep in IT mgt, etc. The whole "Dell" program. I wasn't involved with the company's decision, and I don't know the details, but I do know that it was competitive and that the company seriously evaluated the alternatives. So Dell is still winning the business here too.

In any case, the big picture remains unchanged. This is a great company which is taking market share from the competition. The competition naturally will massage the numbers to try and indicate differently. But the direct channel sellers (not to say "channel stuffers") can't replicate Dell's model easily, if at all. The company is fine. Arguments that it's growth rate might be "only" 40% make me laugh.

Thanks for your post. Boeing's relationship with Dell is famous and for good reason. I'm glad to hear more about it.

Cheers.

Adam, If I got layed off by Boeing and they were wasting their money on Dell boxes, I might get a wee bit postal. <G> Actually, Boeing is Dell's largest customer and they have contracts running through the middle of this quarter. And they are one of the main targets for when Dell runs the receivables game. The slowdown will come when the contracts expire.
