Darrell, You are right not to buy at the opening. A lot of people placed market order to buy the night before and therefore bided up the price. Remember there's a lot of day traders who will sell to lock in profit. If you have the time and patient you can usually get in on the dip. Then again if you are going to hold it for long term a few dollars won't make much difference years from now.
