( BW)(CA-ADVANCED-MICRO-DEVICE)(AMD) AMD Is First to Offer Web-Deliverable Flash Memory Models From Denali Software; Agreement Provides Popular Flash Memory Models to Design Teams On the Web

Business Editors/Technology Writers

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 16, 1999--AMD announced today that it is the first non-volatile memory vendor to provide flash memory models based on Denali Software's Specification of Memory Architecture (SOMA) language.
These models offer full timing and behavioral capability for AMD's broad range of flash products. The advantages of SOMA include superior performance, portability, and data-driven solutions for verification. AMD will offer the SOMA-format memory models on its Web site --- www.amd.com as part of its on-line memory datasheets.
The agreement between AMD and Denali Software consists of the development of SOMA models for all existing and future flash devices. This is intended to give designers the capability to instantly access the most up-to-date and accurate flash models for system design and verification.
"The agreement with Denali represents yet another step AMD is taking to provide our customers with the best combination of technology and support to help enhance their design efforts," said Walid Maghribi, group vice president of AMD's Memory Group. "The SOMA language models along with the Denali Memory Modeler(TM) will enable our customers to design AMD's flash products in the EDA environment of their choice."
According to Sanjay K. Srivastava, president of Denali Software, "This agreement is significant because it is another example of continued adoption of our SOMA format for Web-based delivery of memory models datasheets. Designers need instant availability of models for their memory components and the Web is the most convenient vehicle for serving this need."

About Denali's SOMA and Memory Modeler

Denali's SOMA language, introduced last year, is designed to provide high-quality memory models to designers of electronic systems and enables distribution of models across the Internet and World Wide Web. Used with Denali Software's Memory Modeler, it offers easy portability of memory component libraries for use across all EDA simulation and verification environments.
SOMA language models and Memory Modeler allow designers to create models for new or existing memory components. Memory Modeler is integrated with the most popular commercial VHDL and Verilog hardware description language (HDL) simulators and provides a data-driven verification environment, accurate models, and powerful and interactive debug capabilities.
