John, IBM, CPQ, and I think DELL (and probably others) have been offering to pre-install and support Linux on their machines for large customers for some months now. This was not done quietly either. There were press releases for all of the above last summer and fall.

No offense, but just who and how many are going to CHOOSE linux? The average typist(TM -Michael Burke) that have a hobby of rebuild a kernel once in a while? :)
