Space, peace and quiet ? I know of just such a place...

Perhaps you should consider a slight career change. You could find yourself a nice piece of land in say the Ruby Mountains a bit south of Elko, Nv, which would be much more amenable to your gun totting proclivities. Just cuz you have to switch from pharma-tech to mixing paints at the local True Value Hardware store shouldn't be a major impediment.

Before considering Texas, remember the 100 days of 100 degrees that Mz. Penni endured last year. There are some intangible benefits to this local fair and mild clime.

As for us we picked up some acreage in a place called Valencia Creek Rd, just a couple miles back in the hills from Aptos a few years back. Surrounded by apple farms, off the major boulevards and just yards out of the coastal summer fog zone. Yes it does take a little lucre. Try not to feed it all to Mr. Market.

I like Houston, parts of it, anyway. It's not at all a bad place to live.
