AMD indicated first silicon was functional and met the "MHz" goals.

If true, this is incredibly good news for AMD.

Most parts are functional at first silicon, as opposed to DOA. The question is how functional is functional? Many "functional" parts need many steppings to be manufacturable. My guess is that the definitions of "functional" and "Mhz goals" were very relaxed for first silicon, as they would be for anyone. How long ago was the K6-3 functional?
