It was more a statement on his part. But in your way, you gave the answer. If he had read the first 1000 or the last 50, he would have known what was thought about such a statement/assumption as " At present it appears to me that no particularly valuable insights can be obtained from sophisticated indicators derived from moving averages". I have suggested, he prove his assumptions. I can just imagine his "studying". We don't consider the regulars here as gurus that is the label he put on us. I know there are many who got their basics from this topic and are grateful for it.
