<< I think that without a truly uncensored press the freedoms we still have will rapidly erode. >>

I agree. I am puzzled by the great number of people who would like to see our press censored. I think that the explosion of the news in the 90's was one of the more exciting and "changing" events of our time.

It blows my mind to think that we had news coverage in downtown Iraq as we were bombing the hell out of them.

And now that everyone and his mother has a camcorder, there are a million eyes looking around for a news story.

<< Like the frog in the pot on the stove, most Americans don't realize just how far their freedoms have already eroded. >>

On the contrary, we have more freedoms now than ever. In fact, freedom of speech has gone a little too far, when we have records like "Cop Killer" allowed. But, I'd rather allow offensive free speech then hand our free speech over to our politicians. I feel the same way about abortion. I dread the day if and when we turn over reproductive freedom to our politicians!

What freedoms have you personally lost?

<< I find most to be equally offensive as the talking heads on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN. The content of most "news" shows are not reporting facts but opinions slanted to shape the viewers perception of events. >>

Well...... you've got to be able to tell the difference between the news reporting and the analyst shows. For instance, CNN2 is mostly 24 hour news reporting, with very little news analysis. OTOH, shows like Geraldo, my favorite, are indeed biased. But, you've got to be able to tell the difference between a news hour and an analyst hour.

I didn't read the rest of your note after I saw it was Drudge related. I've got better things to do with my time, and I've got the freedoms to do them!
