Mike O.

I suppose your right in that sense . . . I'm looking at it from the technical point of view and it does look good . . .Technical analysis just makes me guess a little better but its still guessing . . .Well AMAT has had a good run and having earnings multiples in the triple digits does worry a lot of analysts considering AMAT has had to learn how to crawl first before it can run so I can see that a pullback of some proportion needs to happen to solidify a base . . .how about 55 . .that's been a good speed limit right? all I know is that I cashed out all my options the first hour of trading this morning . . . :)

I agree AMAT is a sell.

Money magazine's most recent issue says that AMAT, KLAC, TER all are significantly overvalued...and to sell them.

Money magazine recommended buying these stocks a year ago. They now believe that they have gone too far too fast. AMAT selling at 30 times year 2000's earnings -- it's a bit much.

Michael, >>>
Stock is way overvalued.<<<

You must really have a problem with the internets then. Closer to home, what do you think of Rambus? Revenues per quarter running about 10 mil, FY ending 9/99 $0.32 eps estimated, 9/00 $1.07 est., $73 and change close today. AMAT is obviously selling based on 10/00 eps estimate of $1.73. Hey, maybe speculation is semi equips turn around even better. Data First Call.

Michael O,

P/E is NOT as useful when you are dealing with highly cyclical stocks like AMAT in semicon. industry.

The key here is new booking and forward -looking statement. I think AMAT's numbers speak for itself!

Yes, most AMAT longs expect a healthy pull back after its earning report, if this happens it only provide us another buying opportunity.
Analysts will upfrading AMAT earning estimates for the following quarters and next year.

Good luck
