Ruf, ruf, rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

Debate is when two parties seek out the others input and discuss their differences of opinion. I don't seek your opinion because it has been very wrong in the past and you were the major reason I started posting here in the first place. What is your side anyway? CCUR haters, SEAC lovers, Sarnoff employees? I can go post that AMD is going to wipe out Intel because they have a better chip and management. I don't think the people on the thread will try to debate me because the premise is ill informed and foolish. Although there will be plenty of people who will ask "If AMD makes a better chip, why wouldn't they beat Intel"?

By the way, Rock is right. It will be rubbed in TM's face when he is proven wrong about the future of CCUR.

300 stream Software-only solution for corporate MPEG VOD announced

(For those who have an interest in the competing products)

InfoValue Releases Industry's Fastest, NT-Compatible Video-on-Demand Software
February 10, 1999

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ELMSFORD, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via NewsEdge Corporation -- InfoValue Computing, Inc., today announced the immediate availability of the latest release of its flagship video-enabling software, QuickVideo OnDemand (QVOD) Version 4.0 for Windows NT environments.

Like the earlier versions, QVOD V4.0 uses InfoValue's innovative, patented QuickVideo streaming technology to provide network users with simultaneous access to high-quality videos -- without requiring special hardware. The key differences between the new version and earlier versions are:

-- There are major improvements in speed and performance
-- QVOD V4.0 provides complete IP compatibility -- it can be used
over any network and it supports both Intranet and Extranet
applications.
-- QVOD V4.0 leverages the capabilities of today's advanced
multiprocessor systems to improve overall response times.
The industry's fastest video-on-demand (VOD) software for NT networks, QVOD V4.0 delivers video streams at record-breaking speeds of 480Mbps (300+ simultaneous MPEG-1 videos) from a Windows NT PC Server. This is achieved by routing 6 Fast Ethernet or 2 Gigabit Ethernet segments into the video server. Featuring designed-in scalability, QVOD can easily expand the throughput to the upper limits when applications require it.

This same scalability gives QVOD the flexibility to grow with a customer's needs -- from workgroup to enterprise to broadband consumer systems. With QVOD, users also have the flexibility to expand the throughput using multiple servers.

QVOD's record-setting performance is further enhanced by its completely open architecture. This makes it a more cost-effective solution, because organizations can preserve their investments in their existing system and applications. QVOD is 100 percent compatible with any IP network, including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, Cable modems, ADSL modems, etc.

It can also be used with virtually any off-the-shelf PC hardware as well as all encoders, decoders, storage devices, and authoring tools. With the ability to support existing multimedia applications, QVOD can instantly turn standalone CD-ROM and DVD titles into highly effective client/server courseware.

In addition to providing dramatically increased streaming performance, the newest version of QVOD leverages the entire set of management and control features that Windows NT provides. As a result, QVOD is ideal for a broad range of business, education and government applications such as computer-based training/education, entertainment, video libraries, video kiosks, and Intranet/Extranet video applications.

"Organizations that are video-enabling their networks need a video server with the ability to step up and deliver the best possible experience for users, but bandwidth to the user has historically been a problem in many environments, " explained Christine Perey, principal of Perey Research and Consulting, a Placerville, Calif. organization that focuses on the video delivery industry.

"By overcoming the throughput barriers with video streams over 300 Mbps, InfoValue provides the broadband infrastructure to deliver true, studio-quality video. This kind of technology is especially important for smooth, high-resolution video and in applications where pixel loss compromises the viewer's goals."

QVOD is one of the components of InfoValue's award-winning QuickVideo Suite -- a complete family of software solutions that combine to video-enable corporate networks. For example, QVOD can be used to record live video broadcasts by QuickVideo Multicast and to provide users with instant replay of the ongoing broadcast.

In addition, QVOD provides intelligent video caching and streaming for most distributed environments over Intranets managed by QuickVideo IntraWeb. QVOD is also the video server for InfoValue's QuickVideo Archive application which organizes video assets into databases for instant, interactive browsing and playback.

Designed for easy integration, QVOD can be installed in five minutes on a server or a client. For large-scale applications, installation can be automated via Microsoft's Software Management System (SMS) support. Once installed, QVOD seamlessly optimizes Windows' performance in video streaming.

In addition to supporting all network standards, QVOD supports all video formats including, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DVD, avi, QuickTime, and Motion-JPEG; and all existing applications, development tools, and management utilities.

QVOD V4.0 is available now through leading Value-Added Resellers in the U.S. and through its distributors overseas. The site license MSRPs start at $2,000 plus $250 per seat.

You're right, they are too quick to jump on negative posts, and I don't care for the name calling... the trouble is your posts don't make any
sense... also there needn't be any TAKING OF SIDES.. we're all
on the same side.... except for those who are short... Your statement about "sides" says you probably are a shortstop..
One needs to be very careful with the use of language in cyberspace, IMO... there's no body language, and it's difficult to
read between the lines... this thread has been most informative, but
it's turning into a squabble, which is a waste of timeBTW, I'm long, but very light....
