Awesome country...how'd you ever tear yourself away<g> thanks for sharing them..

what are you thinking about for trading software, etc. What do you currently use on the MAC???

I've been using an EOD called Investor R/T and position trading at DiscoverBrokerage. I've been following the MBTrading/CyberTrader wars ever since CyberTrader come out and will probably take a shot at real realtime with one or the other. I'll kept the Investor R/T on the Mac for EOD, at least for awhile, I'd like to concentrate more on Level II data and use the intraday charting package integrated into the execution s/w. Although I have heard the AIQ package is noteworthy.
(but expensive).

There is a plethora of trading and investment software for PC's....

Thats why I'm here....

I don't ever know if oyu reached resolution with the matrox driver install.

I never did get the current driver working.. I ended up with the driver prior to it.. but I did get MGA to recognize my exact monitor definition (partially at least)

I don't see a evidence of need for higher than 75-80 Hz.

I agree.. I'm running 75hz now, and happy with it. I said partially above because 100hz is available on this Nokia but I was not able to get it listed as an optional mode. I didn't have time to devote much time to that and will get back to the MGA config...maybe an email to Nokia to get started again...

if vesa plug and play works you may be happy.

sometimes this will not list all posssible modes

Sounds like what is happening, for now...I'll give it another shot using your suggestions

most often overlooked mode seems to be 1152x864

You know...I like that one, too. I had it running for a while and may go back to it. 1280 x 1024 text, that can't be enlarged is too small for my eyes.

you might want to just play around
When I was first configuring the monitor I was less sure of myself than I am now. Not that I don't have a long way to go but I stand a better chance now of getting MGA and the Nokia to work together more.
Thanks for bringing this issue up and welcome back....

Clarence

IMO the most often overlooked mode seems to be 1152x864

I like this resolution too. 1280x1024 text is a little too small for me. I had my Nokia 445XiPlus set as PNP and 1152x864 was not a listed mode. So I went in and changed to Matrox Monitor and customized the Nokia 445Xi listing which had 1152x864. I hope it sticks. Other times I've messed with PNP monitor settings have defaulted back. But this is the first time, at your urging, I ve used the Matrox Monitor option...so we'll see.

Thread: FWIW, I agree completely on 1152x864 resolution, provided you have a good 17" or better monitor and high-quality video card. This is what I use virtually all the time.

It's rarely mentioned that the next higher resolution, 1280x1024, uses a non-standard 5-4 ratio, whereas all the other "standard" resolutions (640-480 through 1600-1200) use 4-3. It'd be neat if there were a 4-3 resolution between 1152 and 1600, actually, for 19" monitors.
