It's not like this wasn't expected, is it? It will be awhile, but this company will be back & everyone knows it.

You must not read many quarterly reports, Anaxagoras. How many internet companies would die to lose just .26 a share? In fact, if ABTX were an internet company, this report would be worth a $30 a share rise since sales more than TRIPLED!
All kidding aside, I found the report and subsequent conference call very uplifting. All the hype is gone. No more buyouts or acquisitions. No more focus on the run rate. All the bad news was laid out on the table. Management is solidly focused on the task at hand: integrating the company and improving the bottom line.
Yes, the analysts will savagely cut their earnings estimates tomorrow. (Good. A lower bar to jump over for future quarters.) Yes, weak-kneed longs will dump their shares. (Good. I will buy very cheaply tomorrow to my heart's content.) And Yes, the stock price will not recover quickly because the company has much to do before it improves the bottom line. But, I'm that anachronistic beast, the long-term investor. I can wait out the oversupply of turfgrass and the small competitors that lower prices.

A:

And of course it was all the short sellers' fault.

One thing I'm pretty sure of, it isn't the shorts offering stock at $4 3/4 this AM.
