Interesting time with Dell's recent earnings report.

As I've noted previously, SNDK is fairly valued at $24 - 25/share based on earnings estimates for this year. If they beat estimates by 30%, the stock should be at $31 - 32/share. IMO.

the ebook devices are still in their infancy, IMO, more interesting perhaps as a prototype of things to come. They are too pricey and lacking in features/selection/weight/viewability etc for mass consumption (again IMO). None of the 3 companys that I called ( the products being Rocket Ebook, Librius something-or-other, and I forget the third) use CompactFlash.

You're rght though, if they do catch on, it's yet another good case for Flash memory storage...

Ken,

This subject has been mentioned a few times in the past. The devices using this technology have no moving parts, so one assumes that some form of flash memory is included, either as a flash drive or removable memory.

It would seem that battery life would be a major concern given the size of the LCD. The concerns about downloading a book from the internet and then having a digital copy floating around is analogous to the mp3 dilemma.

Some PC manufacturers will probably offer a similar solution (form factor) with a larger color LCD touch screen interface (no keyboard), an infrared connection to a phone/cable line in the home, and a more powerful processor to allow for other PC-like functions. That way one could read, logon to the web, read e-mail, whatever... all from the comfort of your living room couch. Sort of an oversized version of a PDA functioning as a portable entertainment center. You could probably even put in an antenna for watching TV.

Ken and Thread,

The site that I follow inventory of SanDisk 48 MB CF cards has an update. Click on the link and then on the "update quantity" button. (It takes about 12 seconds to load.)
