TED, I think you missed the point. All you need to do is write a program to change the micro-code on the chips so they understand 360/370 or what ever code is generated by the compiler. Isn't that what "reconfiguring hardware" is all about. Even if you have no source code, just have one of those tech weenies write some micro-code to simulate the proper binary instruction set. While your at it, change those date instruction to solve the Y2K problem as well. Wow, replaceable instruction sets. I'm a PC developer but wasn't this one of the original capabilities of IBM mainframes? I wonder if I can do this with VB? Tom
