what is your opinion on E-trade,
E-Trade issued a press release today, stating that they have received permission, to do asset management, and sell their own S&P INDEX AND mutual funds, and what impact will it have on the big funds such as

Where do you see E-trade 18 MONTHS FROM NOW.

Steve, could you please post an updated opinion on Sportsline at some point, either here or in the ISR? I'm curious about how you view the company's prospects in light of the fact that you had it on your 1998 watch list but left it off your 1999 list. As you know, the company has announced a number of significant strategic initiatives since the year began, including a new rewards program as well as new or expanded partnerships with Amazon.com, Netscape, AOL, Excite, and CBS. Are SPLNs prospects now brighter than they were at the close of 1998, when you wrote that you "thought they'd be further along by now," or do you still see them losing ground to ESPN and CNN/SI? The timing for such an update would be appropriate in light of the recent news and run-up in the stock, and the upcoming publicity blitz that it may experience when CBS broadcasts the NCAA basketball tournament in March. Many thanks.

more thoughts on bsct

cmgi just invested $100M to start an audio-video web firm

that can be taken two ways

that broadcast.com has a great idea, and great lead
and also coming competition

but i think having a lead on the internet creates barriers of entry to startups, unless the startup executes well

even then they must play catch up
