The AT&T's of the world won't want to cede the value of their infrastructure over to the Internet darlings without extracting the profits.

Competition coupled with consumer demands and desires will pretty quickly put an end to this tasteless profitability; consumers are usually pretty good at demanding their freedom to, in this case, roam.
