Who is "Don"? Do you speak English? Why are folks who are scared of genetics also poor at grammar? What about the billions of people genetic technologies can offer a benefit to? I'm going to simplify for your sake: A drug company can make arsenic pills, or drugs that stops cancer. Should we stop the research and use of drugs because an arsenic pill can be made? Genetic modification has occurred for thousands of years in all our crops and animals (only then they never tested before feeding people). Should we throw out modern wheat and corn, and instead eat seeds picked out of the forest? Will the fastest runners pick up all the seeds, and the rest of us starve? Maybe we should leave "concerns" to people who can spell, write, and moreover analyze problems in an objective way, rather than on imaginations. And by the way, everything you eat is turned into effectively "random gene slush" once it dies and goes into your stomach acid. Can I sell you a "personal gene sequencer", with a big tube to go down your throat? *** You said: Dear Don : To modify the genetics of the food what you eat,the biochemical enviroment you live in is in my opinion is by far more complex than any computer-operating system.Also the potencial problems with it are farther reaching then a simple technical problem. You should be happy to know ,that there are people with legitimate concerns about issues ,which can adversely affect of the life of millions. Oscar
