IMHO, you're wrong, I believe they are opening accounts at a record pace. But I'll have to wait for the next quarterly report to prove it. AOL never lost members, indeed they kept growing during the worst of their troubles. And their troubles went on for months, not a couple of days like EGRP.

You wrote: "And I doubt many people are opening new accounts with ETrade."

Well, we'll find out soon enough, but as I said, Ameritrade's problems certainly didn't slow its breakneck growth, and I don't see any reason why E*Trade will be any different. If this problem went on for days on end, I'd certainly agree with you, but it appears to be fixed and, if so, will soon be mostly forgotten, IMO.

I know of three people who've opened accounts recently. I think you under estimate the mindshare that E*Trade has. The reason I continue to hold the stock is the growth rate in new accounts, which has been simply huge over the 2 years that I've owned the stock. I think it will continue to grow.

Till later,

E
