EL..Wish Rudedog was around to cut through all the emotion. We have been spoiled through his contributions. In the article you posted there is one quote I think he would key on and you touched part of it. "" industry remains highly competitive, underscoring the need for greater
operational efficiencies." It has been repeated many times but again, the areas Dell needs to compete in in todays market Dell is not even a player. CPQ and IBM are. The 6 day inventory model is just not enough to "compete" as we move forward. Sorry Mike.

This combined with a lack of high end products and services to leverage corporate sales puts Dell in a tough market position. The screw driver shop may be in for some hard times trying to play with the big boys. Have you noticed the mention of IBM and Compaq in the same breath when talking about Dell's competitors? Maybe we are getting there a little faster then we think.
