We are in furious agreement. Gary North, along with the other doomsayers, is irresponsible.

That said, people like Michael Bloomberg saying that Y2K problems will be solved over a weekend are also irresponsible.

I'm a technology futurist. I've been studying Y2K since January of 1998. I've had conversations with senior IBM execs, experts on embedded chips, insiders at Microsoft. My standard quote is "with 100% certainty, we are taking the world through a live system test."

No one knows what will happen. Anyone who claims to know - including Gary North - is a fool. I just think that this level of uncertainty has not yet begun to be reflected in the manic overvaluation of the US stock market.
