Just heard on the news that TCI has agreed with Seattle city officials that it will open its @home cable-modem system here to other ISPs. Users will be able to choose AOL or MSN or one of the local ISPs, for example, but will pay for it as an extra service at extra cost above the basic cost of @home service and the TCI connection.

Seattle was one of several large west coast cities that threatened to block the transfer of franchise license from TCI to AT&T unless they agreed to open their lines.

So... would you pay extra for AOL if you already had internet service?
It will be interesting to see if this becomes more common.
