Latest Intel Pentium III Processor Technology

NEC Computer Systems Division (NEC CSD) today announced that it will be increasing the power and performance of its workgroup level NEC Express5800(TM) servers and PowerMate(R) corporate desktop computers by integrating Intel's newly-announced Pentium(R) III processor technology into these product lines as soon as the processors are available.

NEC CSD is also showcasing its new products today at Intel's Pentium III Processor Preview Day in San Jose, Calif.

"By integrating the latest Intel processor technology into our Express5800 and PowerMate product lines, NEC CSD is continuing to provide its corporate customers with high performance solutions that meet a range of business needs, from desktop computing to workgroup to small enterprise requirements," said George Skaff, vice president of marketing, NEC CSD.

"Both the NEC Express5800 and PowerMate product lines featuring the Intel Pentium III processor will be able to provide our customers with increased performance and improved manageability crucial in the corporate environment."

High Performance NEC Express5800 Servers

NEC CSD will integrate the Pentium III processors into its Express5800 workgroup level server product line. Certain models within this line will be available with the 450MHz and 500MHz Pentium III processors.

The Pentium III processor for workgroup level servers allows for a number of improvements over previous technology, including the following:

-- Streaming SIMD extensions for improved effective memory latencies
and cacheability control
-- Enhanced ECC cache performance
-- Thorough industry server validation to ensure reliability with a
number of operating systems and applications
-- Single and dual processing capability provides affordability,
expandability and performance headroom
PowerMate Desktop Computers

NEC CSD will integrate Intel's 450 and 500MHz Pentium III processors into its PowerMate 8100 line of high performance desktop computers, which include advanced manageability features for the corporate environment.

Desktops utilizing the Pentium III processor offer corporate users and IT managers a number of advantages, including the following:

-- Ultimate performance delivered on the industry mainstream 440BX
platform for easier deployment
-- Built-in serial number for improved asset tracking and system
identification
-- IT managers can deploy automated compression, encryption and
management tools without impeding user productivity
Product Availability

The NEC Express5800 servers and PowerMate desktop computers featuring Intel Pentium III processor technology will be available from NEC CSD directly or through selected resellers as soon as the processors are available from Intel.
