What is clear to me is that the government is making a more than strong enough case on this issue, with a great deal of help from Microsoft witnesses, to provide important support to its Section 2 claim of illegal maintenance of monopoly. The government argument here is that Microsoft's attempts to manipulate the browser market through exclusive contracts was as much an effort to protect its operating system monopoly from a potentially competitive platform as it was to gain dominance over the browser market itself.
