(NASDAQ:VRIO), the world's largest domain-based Web-hosting company and a leading provider of comprehensive business Internet services, and Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:NSCP) today announced that Verio has adopted Netscape's advanced messaging solutions to serve its nearly 800,000 customer e-mail accounts. Verio CEO Justin L. Jaschke made the announcement today at Verio's Web-hosting conference in New York. Using Netscape's advanced messaging platform, Verio enhances its ability to store, backup and manage business customers' e-mail and large file attachments in a cost-effective and encrypted manner. Plus, the Netscape(R) Messaging Server, Netscape(R) Directory Server, and Netscape(R) Delegated Administrator products let Verio's business customers enjoy the benefits of virtual office technology for global e-mail access from any Web browser. "This move underscores Verio's position as the leader in putting small and mid-sized businesses on the Web, and helps them to fully benefit from the Internet," said Herb Hribar, president and chief operating officer for Verio. "We chose Netscape software because the total cost of our large deployment of messaging solutions will be extremely low while providing exceptional value to our customers." "Netscape's Internet messaging solutions enable ISPs to profitably expand their businesses in both corporate and consumer markets," said Korak Mitra, vice president of hosting solutions at Netscape. "This agreement will enable Verio to provide business-critical messaging services with dramatically lower cost of service provisioning." Verio plans to develop customized packages for its small and mid-sized business customers that bundle Netscape's messaging software with high-speed Internet access, Web-hosting, security options and other business Internet services. The company also recently announced similar bundled packages with its nationwide launch of high-speed DSL services. Netscape Messaging Server Hosting Edition and Netscape Directory Server provide customers with a powerful tool-set to host and manage large-scale Internet messaging services, such as IMAP-based e-mail, web-mail and unified messaging. The Internet-class scalability and performance of Netscape's messaging and server products enables Verio to centralize its operations, dramatically reducing management and total cost of ownership. Netscape Delegated Administrator, a directory-based application, enables service providers to offer their customers a private view and administrative control of their hosted environment. Service providers can provide better service response to their customers by enabling customer self-service for corporate and multiple-account hosting.
