The complaints about Windows and other MSFT products come from those that work in the computer field. These guys have made hating MSFT a mantra for them. It does not mean anything---it is just "cool" to say bad things. They just want to seem smart that they are able to criticize Windows. Without MSFT, they would be screaming not complaining!

The average person loves MSFT's windows, office, etc. They are easy to use. THat is why they won't switch either.

I know more people leaving Apple than buying them. I do not know one person who has brought the Imac.

Your personal experience does not change the fact that over %40 of the iMac buyers are either new buyers or Wintel CONVERSIONS. We're talking about the biggest selling computer of all time here. That you don't know anyone who has purchased one tells me you need to get out more.

Face it: Microsoft makes crappy software. Everyone knows it. Especially Microsoft. When I contracted there, every MS employee I had significant discussions with agreed with this assertion. They believed that Microsoft was making much less crapier crap than in the past, and expected that Microsoft would be making really good software soon. But they didn't deny that Win95 was crap was a cheap imitation of the Macintosh.

Microsoft is not dominant because it produces quality software. The sales figures show it (when given a choice, people switch) the studies show it (total cost of ownership and productivity are much better for MacOS, for instance) the Computer Scientists know it (Unix derivatives are much easier to administer and more reliable) and even Microsoft's employees admit it. Microsoft is where it is because of 1) Misiniformation 2) monopoly power 3) The ability to steal other's copyrighted works with impunity 4) The fact that it is crap means that salespeople at retailers can count on additional revenue selling training.

And the fact that this trial is going so very badly for them is good news for people who believe in Capitalism.
