spending. This year, they will all come back. Because none of them
can afford to miss the train to .18 micron or 300mm or copper or
whatever technology gives their competitors an advantage.

Few points, if you need to upgrade to copper then you'll have to go to NVLS since AMAT does not have a full set of tool for this process. Morgan just does not want to admit that he is behind.
who has increased their capital equipment budget for the '99? INTC budget is still about 2.5 billion and the Japanese have cut their spending. On 300mm tools you may just recover some of the cost of development since semi. co. did not kick in anything in terms of cost sharing.
