AMAT's p/e will fall back in line as eps accelerate in coming quarters. new orders tell the whole story. the new cycle has begun.

Michael,

Dell is perceived to have potential slowing revenues going forward...AMAT is perceived as having potential exploding revenues going forward...Dell has been the beneficiary of cheap components(ram) for quite some time...and is in a commodity business. AMAT is the unequivocal leader in it's field at the beginning of a CYCLICAL upturn...Insane? I don't thnk so...

Michael, You must all be completely nuts folks !!

You must do the complete research of the SEMI's. IMO, it is not the past Fundamental which drives the SEMI's and especially the equipment makers but the perceived future earnings. Many of on this site have found that the TA analysis gives us a more accurate reading that the fundamental analysis. The BTB, Orders, and Shipment data which we post and Gottfried chart is probably the best indication of what the SEMI'S are doing.

Just my opinions.

Paul

Over 70 now. You might want to cover your shorts if you shorted this stock. Whether you like it or not, seems like street likes it.

Thanks,
Ramesh

Michael:

This is pure insanity!!

You obviously don't understand this sector at all. Although AMAT has grown tremendously over the years, it fundamentally acts and trades like a cyclical. It has always been like this, go and check out the early posts on Cary Salsburg's BLOOD thread for an education. AMAT will go up as long as orders are accelerating upward just like any other cyclical. With QtQ orders up nearly 50% IMHO you're nuts to be bearish on this stock right now.
