Active Apparel says site has 500,000 hits
NEW YORK, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Sportswear company Active Apparel Group Inc. said Wednesday that its new Web site, http//:www.everlastusa.com, on Fashionmall.com, received over 500,000 hits in January, its first full month in existence.

The company kicked off the retail Web site in late December, sparking a 1,900 percent leap in its share price to as high as 25 from 1-1/4. Active Apparel's stock has since faded to 4-7/16 on the Nasdaq.

The Web site began by selling Everlast women's activewear and added men's activewear last month.

''The success of our Web site is due in large part to the demand we've experienced for our new Everlast men's wear products, which debuted in January,'' said Chairman and Chief Executive George Q. Horowitz in a statement.

Active Apparel said that Fashionmall.com numbers show that traffic has tripled since the site's debut in late December.

Company officials were not immediately available to provide any sales figures.
