The seven-year agreement is valued at up to $50 million. Lucent also will provide value-added professional services such as installation, monitoring and maintenance of JATO's network through Lucent's NetCare™ Data Services organization as well as co-marketing support. The agreement also provides vendor financing, subject to fulfillment of certain conditions and execution of definitive financing documents. “Our agreement with JATO is an example of the unique, end-to-end capabilities that Lucent brings to service providers looking for complete network solutions,” said Jim Goodman, sales vice president, Lucent Technologies. “Our ability to combine DSL and data networking equipment with professional services and even co-marketing programs provides our customers with turnkey solutions that enable them to offer new services in less time, giving them an advantage in a competitive marketplace.” “Having just completed our OEM agreement for DSL equipment with Lucent in December, it's gratifying to announce a significant customer so soon,” said Rick Gilbert, president and CEO of Copper Mountain Networks. “This agreement with JATO not only supports the strategy behind the Lucent-Copper Mountain OEM agreement, but it also demonstrates our joint commitment to delivering superior DSL solutions to business customers.” “We dissected the market and have focused on providing our distribution partners, such as ISPs, with valuable information and innovative database marketing tools to sell high-speed connections, and ultimately, applications to targeted businesses and residences in specific central offices,” said Gast. “JATO's targeted marketing approach – aimed at businesses, teleworkers and technologically advanced consumers – will help its distribution partners significantly reduce customer acquisition costs.” JATO is currently trialing DSL service in Denver.
