A- I have to run in a minute...but let me give you a few thoughts here..

1- Dell is settling nicely here around 80...It is a good, logical point (trend line, Niles call at 80) to settle at here...important, IMO, that we hold it until MD speaks.....I think MD's talk on CNBC will give the stock a short-term bump, but I expect that Dell will settle (at the end of the day) at 79-80...over the next few days, we could go down even to 76-77...but there are simply too many muni funds that would be dying to buy at that point...and support will be in place...

2- TM says in CC that going into 1st quarter, sales "pipeline" is best in many quarters, years...."Very robust" '99...This is very significant..

3- Tech heavys have been sold off big in the last couple weeks...looks like typical tech correction to me (after long-run up)...We've had a couple of these each year the last few years...because of the reasons I stated in my lenghty post last weekend, I still think we are in a good spot here (overall market)

4- I have every reason to keep believing TM and MD..It makes sense to me that there could be a variance of 200m (at the end of a quarter), and that MD (as he says) thought that they would make 5.4B revs...but then, when it became clear, that it was already the quiet period

I am disappointed by what must have been a leak (for Niles and Kumar's call)...but there is no reason to believe that it was Dell himself...could have easily been one of the auditors....so, this doesn't effect my trust in MD or TM

I think, though, MD could have tweaked a little better (and tweaked is the right word) his wording during the quarter to hedge against such a result....but I agree with the comment of one of the analysts who said "What, now you have to pre-announce that you are going to be a little short earnings (even when making the number)?

I'll continue after I get done with some other biz here... EMC looking really good here...glad I got in at 99....
