Katherine, thanks again. Have been noting some items in the literature that led me to believe the fabless companies didn't learn enough in the last squeeze, and are having considerable difficulty getting contract commitments for sub-.25 capacity. (Paul Higgins could add that to the risks needing assessment in the semiconductor supply chain <g> -- www.semiconductoronline.com of 2/05/99) Being a holder of the fab-owning semis, such as LSI, VLSI, etc, I'm just as happy to see the squeeze developing (if indeed it is). The margins haven't been there for the new fabs since the SE Asia crisis, even despite some delays in construction (or completion) of new fabs. Would be good to know that this particular aspect of the "Asian Flu" is being resolved.
