ImaginOn Strikes E-Commerce Gold for Trashy Lingerie, Inc. Move Over Victoria's Secret! Hollywood-Based Trashy Lingerie Shows How to Market Lingerie in the Age of the Internet by Licensing ImaginOn's
Proprietary, Patent-Pending SellONstream Video E-Commerce Technology;
New Twenty-Five Minute Hybrid CD-ROM/Internet Product
Is Expected to Ship to Consumers in March 1999
SAN CARLOS, Calif., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Next month, ImaginOn, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMON) will help show the world how to really sell women's lingerie in the age of the Internet when licensee Trashy Lingerie, Inc., based in Hollywood, California, is expected to begin marketing a new hybrid CD-ROM/ Internet-connected product called "Trashy Lingerie's Hollywood House Party 1999." The 25-minute interactive CD-ROM will feature television quality video and audio footage of gorgeous women modeling Trashy's 1999 lingerie collection. As planned, consumers will simply insert the CD-ROM into their PC, enjoy the show and, at any time during playback, click to go on line to Trashy's World Wide Web site (http://www.trashy.com) to learn more about an item or to place an order.
"I think ImaginOn's technology is going to change the way lots of companies market their products. It certainly has transformed the way we looked at bringing our new collection to the attention of consumers. Trashy Lingerie has been dressing Hollywood's starlets for 25 years and, until now, has never done one single bit of advertising, relying strictly on word of mouth to promote the store. We selected the Internet as the perfect medium for us to expand in, because it allows us to reach the entire world," stated Mary Loomis, Director of Operations at Trashy.com, Inc. "SellONstream is really the ideal way for us to reach our customers. They will watch the CD and probably pass it on to a friend to watch. It's genius!"
"Victoria's Secret had the right idea to tie in the Internet to their product launch," today explained ImaginOn, Inc. President & Chief Executive Officer David Schwartz. "Unfortunately, the Internet wasn't ready for Victoria's Secret. ImaginOn's sellONstream Video E-Commerce technology, however, is because it marries together our Transformational Database Processing and Playback technology with the CD-ROM format and the Internet. That's a combination that enables Trashy Lingerie to reach out and sell its products in an entirely new interactive way." Without sellONstream, Schwartz explained, Internet video advertising is limited to tiny, grainy, jerky and slow moving images, due to the limited bandwidth of most connections to the Web and the heavy traffic at popular sites. "That's essentially the reason why the Victoria's Secret event was so problematic," he asserted. "Our sellONstream technology makes video e-commerce an entertaining and productive tool for any company. It puts all of the audio and video on a CD-ROM together with a dedicated built-in Web browser, thereby achieving a 98% reduction in the information actually transmitted over the Internet."
When installed on a user's PC, a special sellONstream CD icon shows up on the user's screen. Users with Internet access simply click on the icon, opening a window that plays back the audio and video content while providing VCR-like controls, including a "SHOP ONLINE" button. Because sellONstream incorporates its own dedicated browser, the user never has to navigate the Web at all. He or she hits the "SHOP ONLINE" button and a product purchase Web page pops into view right in the same window. When the purchase is complete, pressing the play button closes the browser and continues the video playback.
