Simply brilliant, Frank. What can I say? I was looking for a proper and elegant way to respond to Mike from Florida's post regarding Voicenet and you have outdone yourself with your VoIP response. And saved me the trouble to boot. I couldn't think of anything to add to your thorough and insightful post. I especially enjoyed the "rant". Needless to say, I am in full agreement with your VoIP philosophy. While growing up in the PSTN industry, I learned at an early age the basic tenets of voice communications. They were (and still are) known as the 3 "C"s: Cost Connectivity Compatibility All 3 are required to have a quality voice network, of any platform. Forget one, and the other two won't matter.
