ITeX Demonstrates its Scalable ADSL Modem (SAM) Optimized for Intel's Pentium III Processor

SAN JOSE, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Integrated Telecom Express, Inc. (ITeX) is demonstrating the benefits of its host-based Scalable ADSL Modem (SAM) running on Intel's upcoming Pentium(R) III Processor.

ITeX's SAM, announced last year, provides end users with an extremely cost-effective, easy-to-use, always on, high-speed connection for Internet, remote access and multimedia applications. Optimized for Intel's Pentium(R) III, SAM leverages a small portion of this new CPU's power to achieve scalable data rates of up to 1.5 Mbps downstream and 512 Kbps upstream over existing standard telephone lines, as specified in ITU-T's G.lite standard. Scheduled for production in the first quarter of 1999, SAM's host-based architecture will permit its introduction at a very competitive price point, and will also allow easy software upgradability as needed in the future.

"Intel is pleased that ITeX's host-based SAM product takes advantage of the Pentium(R) III processor's capabilities," said Sally Fundakowski, Director of Shopping/Business Market Development at Intel Corporation. "This marks a significant turning point for end users looking for a high-speed, cost- effective Internet access solution attainable by utilizing the combined power of the Intel Pentium(R) III processor and ITeX's SAM product."

According to Young Liu, President and CEO of ITeX, "We are very proud to be a leading ADSL manufacturer demonstrating our host-based ADSL modem running on the Pentium(R) III processor at this very exciting Intel event." Liu continued, "In addition to showing that our SAM product is an easy-to-use solution and reinforcing its affordability, we are proving once again its reliability. While, we have always believed our SAM product would deliver the high-speed Internet connectivity the market craves, with SAM's obvious advantages and the power of Intel's Pentium(R) III processor, we know our goal to enable the mass market with ADSL will soon be achieved."
