AMKR..KELL are two more earnings plays in the news for today...AMKR in New America page. KELL beat earnings + 2 1/4 was up 5 intraday without a gap up. ( I won't be surprised to see CNDR/ITDS in a future New America Page) KING was already there.

AMKR..again our earnings play coming into Investor's Business Daily after we had it for over a week. "..Amkor has the expertise to stay ahead of its competition in developing smaller packages and connectors... In December, the company licensed a new chip packaging design called a flip chip from LSI Logic Corp. The design helps AMKR shrink its packaging even more.

The outsourced chip packaging market reached $6 billion in 1998, analysts say, Amkor holds a 25% share.

The $20 billion chip packaging market is expected to double within five years. And chipmakers may eventually outsource 40% of that business.

For now, Amkor is expected to grow from within , rather than through acquisitions. But when the market is ready for consolidation, the company could become a leading buyer, analysts say.

Amkor has posted annual sales and profit gains for the last three years. Even in 1998 at the heart of the most recent industry downturn the company managed to boost earnings 38% to 66 cents a share....."
