Ryton--And any others with shorting questions. This is a good thread for some basics in shorting. Considering the amount of shorting that occurs, long tradition, and its widespread use throughout the entire stock market, remarkably little has been written in book form on the subject. Kathryn F. Staley's book 'The Art of Short Selling' has been mentioned but it is an examination of long term shorts. You will likely find most of the information to learn on line.
