Slightly off-topic... another Canadian online auction launched. FWIW... Just saw this pop up in my inbox regarding a company I used to follow (Cybersurf, ASE:CY). They've launched their online auction, but the site doesn't look like much compared to the "big guys". It more closely follows eBay's model rather than uBid or Bid.Com's. They do mention in their opening paragraph, "Other auction services such as Ebay, First Auction and Bid.com are enjoying tremendous success and acceptance."
