Can you explain to me what is happening This is a rather normal contraction of PE ratios from a company that is growing at around 40% instead of it's historical 50-60%. It will pause until the P/E is in tune with it's growth rate and then continue at it's new ratio. all in a sudden it seems that they are lossing market share!! They are still growing faster than the market. It just takes a lot more sales to make an equivalent percentage gain. TP

Yaacov, Dell is gaining market share at a prodigious rate. Only Michael Burke considers growing at more than three and a half times the market as a loss of market share. But that's because he doesn't like computers on does arithmetic on his fingers. When numbers get over 10 he is stumped. I guess it gets reset to 0 and that how he sees a drop in market share. However, companies like IDC and Dataquest (without the benefit of Burke's secret decoder ring) think Dell is gaining market share at a rapid clip. See idc.com for details, TTFN, CTC
