Not sure why but many people here have them. It may be shutting your computer down because it takes Java code to make them work. You could go to your internet properties and disable Java but then you won't be able to use Metastock online, quote.com and many of the other trading resources we use.

If you ae using Internet Explorer, go to their site and make sure you have the latest patches. I recall there was one I grabbed a while back that was supposed to fix some Java application problems. My computer used to lock up occasionally at the quote.com site until I installed the patch.

If you are running Win 98, the update function should automatically check and advise you to what updates you require as long as you haven't uninstalled any prior patches. The site uses cookies to tell what patches you already have.

The geocites windows aren't as bad as the sites that cookie you to death. I refuse to use MSN just because they throw about 20 cookies at you for each screen you attempt to access. I don't accept any cookies except the ones from my broker and certain other secure sites that I absolutely have to.

Good Luck,

Lee
