Henry, I find this fishy:

Since other companies like CPQ and IBM had already reported numbers, it was possible to do some calculations, which were used to write the report.

The reason is simple: In his narrative, Niles attributed the revenue shortfall to problems in "the finish of the quarter" (presumably January), which was after CPQ and IBM's reporting period. I believe he was fed the data.
