The consolidation/acquisition of fiber-optic related companies continues in all segments related to photonic/optical technology. From the igigroup web page. ---------------------------- Corning Acquires Rochester Photonics Corporation Corning Incorporated has acquired Rochester Photonics Corporation, a company that develops differactive optics and microlenses. At this time the terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. RPC's specialty in diffractive optics and microlenses are seen as a critical element to the growth of such markets as telecommunications, photonics, optical data storage, optical computing, displays, laser scanning and printing, medical optics, camera lenses, automotive lighting and various other defense and commercial applications. As a result of the sales, RPC will report into Corning-owned U.S. Precision Lens, Inc., based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
