MB re: Wow, that article makes me nervous for HWP.
It makes me nervous for all the PC makers, especially Dell. From the article I sense it's getting ever more difficult to differentiate value in hardware. What real added value is there in a $2500 PC over one that costs half as much? And the performance lines are not only blurring in PC's but in the chip families. Just saw some benchmarks that showed little difference between Celeron, PII and PIII on industry standard tests. (And Intel just announced it's targeting the $600 segment with Celeron?) PIII will be one of Intel's greatest marketing challenges.
And it seems like everyone is targeting the Direct PC market ala Dell.
So it appears that HP is trying to find other ways to differentiate themselves from the pack.
And Dell is losing it's differentiator.
Love these commodity markets. ;-)
