A couple of additional comments to go along with your statement,
The trade is seeing more of the licensee's drives in the channel and those drives are not being counted in the shipped number of drives as announced by Iomega ( the number will be greater than 35 million ).

Zip drives are not going to the scrap heap when older systems are being replaced by newer systems they are one of the peripherals that are being recycled and kept in service. Zip drives that were purchased for 486 systems are now serviceing P II systems that were ordered without Zip.
