I could agree if one went into options knowing what the risks actually are; and if one was at least aware of the immense information gap between the amateur buying the option and the professional selling it.

Options expire in a finite time. An amateur making a mistake loses 100% of the amount invested almost immediately.

If one really chooses to learn by experience, it may be best to regard options as akin to purchasing lottery tickets during that period of learning.
