Ten,

<Intel pays for an entire wafer every time it sells ~2 of its PIII processors.> Huh? An entire wafer? I thought that Pentium III will have a die size much smaller than the 184 mm2 K7.

If an object is yellow and it's volume is 12 cubic centimeters, how much does it cost?

Sorry, I'm just busting your chops.

Tenchusatsu, let me try again. If 8" wafers cost ~$1,500 and Intel sells PIIIs for >$750 then it only takes two CPU sales to pay for the the entire wafer. With >30,000 mm2 on a wafer, that leaves a lot of "free" chips to package and sell for a profit.
