I kinda think the big companies are running scared.
I've heard that there's almost complete absence of retail interest in value stocks...pensions won't buy small-company stocks and the average retail investor does not know that PA, for instance, is a better stock than seek. Never mind that pimco is sitting on the world's biggest pension bond funds and gives you 7% for holding the stock...people will buy seek first because it went up. so until that changes, some of the values will stay in the basement.
I have lots of patience and a very long time horizon, so it's not a bad time to nibble around the edges of 25-year lows in a lot of industries.
I'd feel better about letting them sit permabear than to look back in 25 years and kick myself for passing up a 25-year low. especially when the stuff is below book value and offering dividends higher than a money-market.
