They are NOT the same thing. The company gives guidance. The analysts may or may not come up with the correct expectations. It depends on how good their model is.

I believe you are the newbie here. The fact that INTC has not changed guidance does not necessarily mean that they have the quarter "in the bag". If there is SIGNIFICANT upside or downside, INTC usually pre-announces. If there is no new guidance, it generally means that they expect to come in slightly above or slightly below the mean estimates.

Have been long intel 4 years, this is my second split. It behaved just like this at last split. Went to 155, back to about 120, split, rest is history. We are now at 250 presplit, and getting a little typical new-high volatility. Typical behavior for intel
