For the slower ones among us .. how about just staying in the saddle for a longer descent ... I don't mind riding over a few mole hills on the way down to the valley ... heh heh heh ...

My target was 50 by May expiry ...

Somehow that single digits comment probably got construed to mean the overall biz. Dell thinks he can beat this (growth in overall revs) by 3X, even in those terms revenue growth would still be shrinking ... I bet DELL has trouble just showing growth next quarter ...

Bad news usually comes in triples (starting with DELL as #1 that the market as a whole paid attention to) ... what do you think will be the next significant item for the PC biz?

Thanks,
tippet

Yes, all that is true but you're overlooking one thing.

Earlie, Couldn't agree more. It is not like Dell at 79 times eps is a bargain. <g>

I liked the mid single digits revenue growth which they will achieve by "risking margins." Arghhhhh! Also, the mid single digit number is forecast when they have already received a large one time order for this quarter. Even the dumbest analysts were surprised by that one. "If you just received a huge one time order, how can revenues only be up mid single digits?" Dell did a little dance and I think most of the dummies bought it. But did anyone wonder what that says about sustainable growth in the future.

The two funniest parts. "You should think mid single digit sequential revenue growth is great." Excuse me for not thinking that way, Mr. Merry Death, Sir. <g> And, of course, things will be infinitely better two quarters out. This is the historically slow period over the next two quarters. Uh, the Dell gullibulls just told me that the quarter just reported was the weak one, seasonally. What a co. Only one strong quarter a year. <g>

But not to worry. We have achieved nirvana. We have declared a stock split. <BG>

Earlie,
"- In spite of their advertising, Dell is expensive. Many of us have been saying for many
months that the best way to buy a PC is to price with Dell and then buy at the local
cloner. The exact same box will cost hundreds of dollars less, and will be locally
serviced."

Not sure I agree there - you can buy cheaper at the local screwdiver shops but component quality takes a nosedive in my experience. Dell has only 8% margins so it's hard to undercut them by much.
